Gambling Regulatory Authority Mauritius

Lottotech Ltd, incorporated on 8 April 2008, is the operator of the national lottery and gaming activities in Mauritius under the Gambling Regulatory Authority (GRA). The Company adopts the Responsible Gaming Framework implemented by the World Lottery Association (WLA) in its operations. These regulatory bodies are, namely: the Attorney General’s Office; the Financial Intelligence Unit; the Mauritius Institute of Professional Accountants; the Gambling Regulatory Authority; and the Registrar of Companies. Gambling in Mauritius has been legal since the early 1970s and regulated by the Gambling Regulatory Authority since 2007. The authority allows for the licensing of internet gambling enterprises but there are currently no such businesses operating here. Effective cross-border supervision through exchange of information
Effective cooperation and exchange of information as well as robust working relationship between regulators are key to preserving financial stability. The FSC has signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with local, regional and international counterparts aiming at:

  • consolidating supervision of cross-border operations of financial institutions;
  • defining mechanisms to share information in accordance with international standards; and
  • reinforcing collaboration amongst institutions in the fight against crime, Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism.
  • The FSC is also committed to adhering to international best practices on transparency and disclosure of information.
